Sacred Imagination - a creative flow workshop

What happens when we stop trying to be creative—and allow ourselves to become curious, embodied, playful, and surprised? In this experiential workshop, Lisza Matyas, professional poet, interdisciplinary artist, and official Artist in Residence at First Unitarian Church of Orlando, teams up with professional somatic coach Leslie Grace to explore creativity as a spiritual practice and discover new pathways into imagination and creative flow. Through connection, movement, play, and embodied practices, participants will experiment with ways of quieting the inner critic, moving through creative blocks, and accessing the part of ourselves that knows how to make something before we know what that something will be. This is not just a poetry workshop, and you do not need to consider yourself an artist to come. Follow whatever form your imagination wants to take: poetry, storytelling, music, movement, visual art, performance—or simply a more creative relationship with everyday life. Participants will leave with • practical tools for entering creative flow, • ideas for developing a personal creative-spiritual practice, • and, we hope, a renewed sense of wonder at the vastness of their own imaginations. No creative experience is necessary. Ages 16+. All activities are inclusive, G-rated, consent-centered, and participation is always by choice.
